Luc Rigouzzo has over 30 years of experience in investing in emerging market companies.
Prior to co-founding Amethis, Luc Rigouzzo was, from June 2006 to December 2010, the CEO of Proparco, the French Development Financial Institution specialized in long-term sustainable investments to the private sector in emerging countries. He redefined the company’s strategy by focusing on infrastructure and financial services in Africa, capital investments for SME’s in the Mediterranean and renewable energy in Asia. He designed and successfully achieved with his team an ambitious 5-year business plan that transformed Proparco into a leading institution in its sector: including the launching of a 300 million Euro capital increase of the company in May 2008, the achievement of a very strong growth of the company and results, while controlling the risks. In the meantime, the company has put in place a development, social and environmental impact assessment tools to all its operations.
Luc Rigouzzo, who holds degrees in both agronomy and finance, began his career in Mexico. He devoted the first 14 years of his career to project finance in the agribusiness and food sectors of emerging countries. Initially at Agence Française de Développement and Proparco field offices (Ivory Coast, Cameroun), then at headquarters. Then Luc Rigouzzo went on to join the Agribusiness Department of the International Finance Corporation, financing projects (expansion programs, restructurings, syndications, privatizations, start-ups) in Latin America and Africa. He realized numerous transactions (equity investments, mezzanine and long term loans) in the agricultural sector, and the food industry.
Luc Rigouzzo re-joined the AFD Group in 2000 as the deputy director for the Mediterranean department. In 2001 he led the team in charge of redefining the Group’s strategy. Finally, from 2002 to 2006, he created and led the department of non-sovereign, private and financial sector, structuring and developing AFD’s activities in the infrastructure and banking sectors (sub-sovereign project-finance, risk guarantee, Public Private Partnerships, innovative microfinance schemes, financial engineering and environmental loans). He was also Member of the AFD Executive Committee and Chairman of the Board of European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI), a group of 17 bilateral institutions which provide long-term finance for private sector enterprises in emerging economies. In 2011, he was Chief of Staff of the French Ministry for Development before founding Amethis.
Luc Rigouzzo wrote several papers regarding development economy and finance in Africa through publications such as Field Actions Science Reports, La Tribune, Le Nouvel Economiste, L’Express, African Banker.
Luc Rigouzzo is a board member of Amethis management and advisory company for the funds and for Amethis West Africa (Cote d’Ivoire), NSIA (Cote d’Ivoire), Velogic (Mauritius) and for Ramco (Kenya). He is also a Board member of AVCA (African Venture Capital Association), “Danone communities” and member of the investment committee of Investisseurs et partenaires (I&P).

Laurent Demey is Managing Partner of Amethis. Laurent Demey has more than thirty years of experience in investment, consulting and team management in Africa.
Laurent Demey is a member of the boards of directors of the management and advisory entities of Amethis’ funds and several portfolio companies.
Prior to co-founding Amethis, Laurent Demey was Chief Investment Officer and then Deputy CEO of Proparco, the French Development Finance Institution, from 2006 to 2011. In these capacities, he managed together with Luc Rigouzzo the very strong growth of Proparco during that period.
Laurent Demey started his career at Société Générale, first working on exotic sovereign debt trading and debt/equity swaps and then in the Africa M&A and Advisory department, working as Team Leader on strategic privatizations throughout the continent (cotton industry in Ivory Coast, sugar, rubber and palm oil in Cameroon, railways in Gabon, largest retail bank of Madagascar…) and advising governments on their debt management (Cameroon). He was then posted to Abidjan to head SG’s regional brokerage firm, Sogebourse, between 1998 and 2000, where he led numerous IPOs and bond issues. Sogebourse soon became the largest broker in the region, with a market share of over 60% in both the primary and secondary markets. He also successfully launched an asset management activity which has soon become the market leader in the region.
In 2000, he joined PROPARCO as a Senior Investment Officer, leading debt and equity transactions in financial institutions and capital markets structures (MBS, mutual funds) in Africa, and went on to become Head of the Banks and Financial Markets Department, which represented half of Proparco’s activity, two years later. In 2004, he set up a regional PROPARCO office for East Asia in Bangkok, kick-starting the company’s regional development, which represented a quarter of PROPARCO’s activity in 2006. He returned to Paris in 2006 as Chief Investment Officer, heading the investment teams and the international network, before being promoted Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2008.
Laurent Demey graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Paris and holds a postgraduate diploma in development economics from the Ecole Normale Supérieure.

Mr Ammour is Senior Partner, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Amethis. He is based in Luxembourg.
He is responsible for of the Finance functions of the Alternative Investment Fund Management and Amethis Group.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2019, Mr Ammour worked 4 years in the Group Inspection and Audit Division at Société Générale Group as Head of Audit for Finance. Mr Ammour started his careers with KPMG France and in the USA, providing audit, financial advisory and transaction services to major financial institutions through the US, Europe and Africa. Then Mr Ammour joined as a CFO, the Finance Department for the panafrican bank Ecobank International in France where he spent 4 years contributing to the set-up and run of the Paris subsidiary and international offices.
Mr Ammour holds an Executive MBA and an Executive Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation from HEC Paris, he was trained for an Executive Education program on Innovative Management and Entrepreneurial Leadership at Babson College. He passed the French certified chartered accountant degree and a master’s degree in Finance and Accounting (DESCF).
He is a French and Moroccan citizen and speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.

Jean-Sébastien Bergasse is Senior Partner, Responsible for Investments, at Amethis.
Mr Bergasse is a member of Amethis Executive Committee which oversees the firm’s operations and investments. He oversees the deal sourcing, staffing of the operations while leading transaction execution teams. He is specialized on East Africa and originates deals in all Africa. He is a board member for Boulos (Nigeria) and Ramco (Kenya).
Prior to joining Amethis in 2013, Mr Bergasse was Head of Proparco’s SME Department after being Senior Investment Officer, executing deals particularly in the MENA and African regions and managing Proparco’s Banking and Capital Market division. Previously, he worked for Société Générale and Marsh on transactions in Africa, having started his career with Crédit Agricole in Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr Bergasse holds a degree in finance from the EM Grenoble Business School and a degree in business management from Assas University (Paris). He is a French citizen and is fluent in English and French.

Khady Koné-Dicoh has almost 20 years of African and European private equity investment and investment banking experience.
She joined Amethis a dozen years ago and led a dozen investments and divestments among which investment and exit from the largest supermarket chain in Côte d’Ivoire, CDCI; investment and exit from the leading LPG bottles distributor in Burkina Faso, Sodigaz; investment and listing of the Maurtian logistics company, Velogic; investment in the hospitality and leisure company in Mauritius, Rogers Hospitality; as well as investment in the Ivorian precast concrete company, SIBM, etc. She sits on the boards of several portfolio companies.
Her responsibilities at Amethis include fundraising, deal sourcing as well as leading execution teams. She is head of West and Southern Africa for Amethis.
Prior to joining Amethis, Khady was Manager at Société Générale’s mergers and acquisitions team. Over almost 7 years, she advised and structured many transactions across Europe and Africa in the telecom, health, hospitality, and retail sectors for both strategic players and private equity funds.
Khady holds an Executive MBA from London Business School, a Master of Science in Management from EM Lyon Business School, and a Master of Business Law from Lyon III University.
Khady is of French and Ivorian nationality. She grew up in Côte d’Ivoire.

Nicolas Manardo is Partner at Amethis. As Head of the European strategy, his responsibilities include deal sourcing and analyzing, as well as overseeing due diligences and leading transaction execution teams.
Nicolas Manardo has over 20 years of experience in investment and investment banking in France and abroad. He joined Amethis in April 2021 after 3 years as Managing Director in the small caps team of LBO France where he completed several majority and minority transactions. Between 2009 and 2017, Nicolas worked at Bpifrance where he managed the Smidcaps activities (equity and debt).
Prior to that, he spent several years in M&A at Lazard and Société Générale CIB, where he advised funds on their LBO transactions. He also worked for the Saint Gobain group in various positions as Head of materials distribution subsidiaries in France, Mexico and Italy. Nicolas has completed about 15 transactions since 2009.
He graduated from ESCP Europe and is certified in Lean – Six Sigma from Ecole Centrale Paris. He speaks French, English, Italian and Spanish.

Romain Gauvrit is a Partner at Amethis where he co-manages European strategy and is a member of the investment committee of the Amethis Europe Expansion fund. In this regard, he is in charge of sourcing, project analysis and due diligences, managing transaction execution teams and monitoring portfolio investments.
Romain Gauvrit joined Amethis in 2021 and has almost 20 years’ experience in private equity with previous experience at Bpifrance and Qualium.
He has completed over twenty majority and minority transactions, including Laborizon and Labelys, with a strong focus on primary transactions with families and entrepreneurs.
Romain is a graduate of EM LYON and the Schulich School of Business (Toronto). He speaks French and English.

Toufic Khoueiry is Partner at Amethis. He is based in Paris.
Mr. Khoueiry’s responsibilities at Amethis include deal sourcing and analyzing, as well as overseeing due diligences and leading transaction execution teams. He particularly covers the Middle East & North Africa region.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2018, Mr. Khoueiry was a Principal at NBK Capital Partners in Dubai, where he led various mid-market private equity transactions across multiple sectors in the Middle East & North Africa.
Mr. Khoueiry holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MSc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics & Political Science and a Bachelor of Engineering from the American University of Beirut. He is a Lebanese citizen and speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.

Frank-Astère Ndiyo-Butoyi is a Partner at Amethis. He is based in Nairobi.
Mr Ndiyo-Butoyi’s responsibilities at Amethis include financial sector deal sourcing and executing, as well as overseeing due diligences and executing transactions.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2015, Mr Ndiyo-Butoyi worked for KPMG’s Transaction Services department in Paris, mainly in the financial services sector, conducting due diligence and valuation missions, primarily in Central and West Africa. Previously, he worked for two years at Société Générale in New York, after starting his career with HSBC and Natixis Finance in Paris.
Mr Ndiyo-Butoyi holds a degree in global markets and investment banking from Dauphine University (Paris). He is a native of Burundi and is fluent in English, French, Rwandan and Burundian.

Wilfried Poyet is Partner at Amethis. He is based in Casablanca.
At Amethis, Mr Wilfried Poyet is responsible for sourcing and analyzing opportunities, as well as overseeing due diligence and managing the teams in charge of executing transactions. as well as monitoring investments in the portfolio. He is a member of the boards of Dislog (Morocco) and WB Media (Lebanon).
Before joining Amethis in 2018, Mr Wilfried Poyet was director of strategy and finance of a leading Moroccan industrial group for more than 5 years (agribusiness, real estate and cement industry: 60 subsidiaries, sales of 600MEUR , 4,000 people). Previously, he worked in private equity for 10 years, including a part in France (Oseo (BPI) and Odyssée Venture) and another one in Morocco (Capital Invest and Upline Investments), where he has completed more than twenty deals (seed, venture, growth, LBO and turnaround), within several business sectors: IT, distribution, industry, transport and services.
Mr Wilfried Poyet gratuated from ISEN (Lille, France) with an engineering degree, and a Master’s degree in corporate finance from EM Lyon (France). He is a French citizen and has been living in Morocco since 2006.

Adnane Zerhouni, is Partner. He is based in Casablanca.
Mr Zerhouni is responsible for identifying and analysing opportunities, managing the teams in charge of executing transactions, as well as monitoring portfolio investments. He focuses his efforts mainly on the MENA region.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2018, Adnane Zerhouni was M&A Director of Saham Group in Casablanca (a diversified pan-African group, a major player in the insurance sector) for 6 years, where he carried out numerous acquisitions and disposals on the African continent. Previously, Mr Zerhouni was an investment banker in London for 7 years in the M&A departments of Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital.
Mr Zerhouni holds a Master of Science in Management with a specialization in economics from HEC Paris, and also holds a Certificate of Continuous Education from Columbia University in New York. He is a Moroccan and French citizen and speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.

Aurélie Pujo is a Senior Advisor at Amethis. She is based in Casablanca.
Ms. Pujo supports Amethis in all legal aspects, including investment and fundraising and fund structuring activities. She is a member of the board of directors of the management company and several portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2013, Ms Pujo was Principal Counsel based in Tunis at Emerging Capital Partners (ECP), a pan-African private equity fund, where she was responsible for providing legal support to investment activities in Africa and the MENA region. Previously, she was a lawyer with White&Case in Paris specialising in energy, infrastructure and project finance, and worked for Herbert Smith in Paris and Shanghai.
She became a Partner at Amethis in 2016, before becoming a Senior Advisor in 2022.
Ms Pujo was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2005 and completed a postgraduate diploma (DESS-DJCE) in international business law at the Institut de Droit des Affaires d’Aix-en-Provence, and a master’s degree in international law (oil and gas law option) at one of the leading French law schools.

Alaa is a Senior Advisor with Amethis since the beginning of 2020. He is based in Cairo, Egypt.
Alaa comes from a long career in corporate life with Mars Inc., Bain & Co, and Philip Morris International across different geographies before becoming a CEO focused on companies’ scaling and transformations.
His last corporate role was CEO at Kazyon, a PE-backup discounter chain in Egypt where he led a successful transformation in 2016. Since then Alaa has moved to non-executive roles in Egypt serving as Board Advisor, Board Member, Investment Committee Member to some of the largest Family Offices, Financial Institutions, Funds, and Funds of Funds.
Alaa is an Engineer from the American University in Cairo, and holds his MBA from INSEAD, and his Doctorate of Business Administration from IE Business school.

Gibril Aoudia is a Director in charge of Finance, Risk and Fund Administration at Amethis. He is based in Luxembourg.
He is conducting officer, authorized by the CSSF, responsible amongst others for risk management and fund administration oversight (AIFM). Mr. Aoudia also monitor the financial planning & analysis and he supervises the controlling, treasury management, regulatory reporting and fund operations under an extended perimeter of the Amethis platform entities (Alternative Investment funds, AIFM, Holdings, Advisors, GP, and investment vehicles on several geographies in Europe and Africa).
Prior to joining Amethis in 2019, Mr. Aoudia worked for more than 5 years at PwC Luxembourg as a manager in Operational Companies and Private equity.
Mr. Aoudia holds a master’s degree in Audit and Controlling from Inseec Business School. He is a French and speak fluent English, French and Spanish.

Rebecca Denyer is Investment Director for the Europe Expansion Fund at Amethis. She is based in Paris.
Mrs Denyer’s responsibilities at Amethis include deal sourcing and execution, and portfolio monitoring.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2023, Mrs Denyer built a solid career in private equity: after starting out at PwC in Transactions Services, she joined Bpifrance in 2017, where she held the position of Principal. At Bpifrance she actively contributed to several investments, including Herbarom, Looping, and Pharmatis.
Rebecca Denyer is a graduate of ESCP Business School, with a specialization in Finance. She is French and British and speaks fluent French and English.

Marieke Geurts is Investment Director at Amethis. She is based in Nairobi.
Ms. Geurts’ responsibilities at Amethis include deal sourcing and analyzing, overseeing due diligences, leading transaction execution teams, as well as monitoring investments in the portfolio. She focuses her efforts mainly on the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2022, Ms. Geurts was an Investment Principal at Ascent Capital based in Nairobi, where she led various mid-market private equity transactions across multiple sectors in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda. She started her career as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Ms. Geurts holds an MiM from CEMS, an MSc. in International Business from Rotterdam School of Management and a Bachelor of Business Studies from Tilburg University. She is a citizen of The Netherlands and speaks fluent Dutch, English, and French.

Fanny Laplace is Investment Director at Amethis. She is based in Abidjan.
Ms Laplace’s responsibilities at Amethis include deal execution, as well as portfolio monitoring. Ms Laplace is based in Abidjan and focuses more specifically on the West African region.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2016, Ms Laplace worked in Nairobi for Bank of Africa, part of the Moroccan Banking Group BMCE, and for Valyans Consulting in Casablanca, a Moroccan strategy consulting firm.
Ms Laplace holds a Master in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Master’s degree in International Economics from Paris Dauphine University. She is a French and Congolese citizen and speaks fluent English, French and Kikongo, and is proficient in Spanish.

Raphaël is a Director in charge of ESG & Impact matters and is based in Paris.
He oversees our sustainability and impact strategy and its implementation in our investment activities.
Raphaël brings 9 years of experience in the field of sustainable finance. Before joining Amethis in 2021, he worked for 6 years in EY’s Sustainable Finance advisory and audit teams, after starting his career in the banking sector.
Raphaël is a graduate of HEC, Sciences Po Bordeaux and the University of Stuttgart. He is a French national and speaks French, English and German.

Yann-Axel Assouakon is Investment Manager At Amethis. He is based in Abidjan.
Yann is in charge of transaction execution and portfolio monitoring mainly in the West African area.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2023, Yann worked for 7 years in the Transaction Services and Valuation department of KPMG in Lyon and Abidjan. At KPMG Yann advised Private Equity fund and corporate as part of their investment process in France and West Africa
Yann holds a degree in corporate finance from IAE Lyon III and UQAM (Université du Quebec à Montréal). He is a French and Ivorian national and is fluent in French and English.

Mariam Lamrani Alaoui is Investment Manager at Amethis. She is based in Casablanca.
Mariam’s responsibilities at Amethis include deal execution, as well as portfolio monitoring and focuses more specifically on the Nord African region.
Mariam joined Amethis in 2024, and has over 8 years’ experience, including in M&A Transaction Services at PwC in France, and strategy consulting at Oliver Wyman.
Mariam Lamrani Alaoui graduated from ESSEC Business School.
She is a French and Moroccan citizen and speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.

Karim Naim is Investment Manager at Amethis, based in Cairo.
Mr. Naim’s responsibilities at Amethis include deal execution and portfolio monitoring. Prior to joining Amethis in 2023, Mr. Naim worked as an Investment Banking Vice President in HC Securities & Investment in Cairo, where he gained significant experience advising on notable transactions in Egypt and North Africa.
Karim Naim holds a bachelor degree in Economics and Finance from the German University in Cairo. He is an Egyptian citizen and speaks fluent French, English and Arabic.

Henri is heading the Investor Relations team at Amethis, and is based in Paris.
He has dual degree in business law and finance (Université Paris II Panthéon Assas). He is also AMF-certified.
Henri joined Amethis in 2022 after 6 years with liquid asset manager Boussard et Gavaudan.
He is French of Hungarian origin, and speaks fluent French and English.
Office Paris
Ali KOITA is Portfolio Manager at Amethis. He is based in Luxembourg.
He is responsible for ensuring compliance with investment policies and for post-investment monitoring processes.
Mr KOITA’s responsibilities at Amethis include due diligence review and investment appraisal. He is also responsible for monitoring post-acquisition processes which include focus on key strategic issues, board representation, reporting obligations, best practice, and operational improvements as well as exit processes.
Mr. KOITA is also responsible for the execution of certain investments (exits, restructurings, special operations).
Prior to joining Amethis in 2023, Mr. KOITA was a Manager in Transaction Services at KPMG Paris. Prior to that, he worked in Leveraged Finance within the financial engineering department of CIC and at Deloitte in Audit.
Ali KOITA holds a master’s degree in finance from Audencia Business School. He is Franco-Malian and is fluent French, English, Bambara and Peuhl.

Felicité Mbarga is a Senior Compliance Officer for the Luxembourg office ; she has a vast experience in consulting and the financial sector within Luxembourg. She worked for over three years as a consultant for PWC Luxembourg as a subject matter expert for financial Crime topics. Following PWC Luxembourg’s experience, she worked successively for significant players in asset management within Luxembourg, acting as a compliance officer for Aberdeen Standard Investments and EFG Bank.
Felicité holds a Master’s in Controlling and Audit from the University of Upper Alsace (France) and a Master’s degree in international business from Coventry University (United Kingdom); she is also a holder of a bachelor’s degree in European Engineering Business Management and Economics earned jointly from the University of Upper Alsace and Coventry University (United Kingdom). Due to her eagerness to learn, she attended Management Consulting courses at EM Lyon Business School.
She is French and speaks fluently French and English.

Michel SOUA is Legal Counsel and Corporate Officer at Amethis. He is based in Casablanca.
Michel is responsible for advising on legal issues for Amethis management and advisory companies for the funds and provides legal support to investment activities. He is more particularly in charge of the corporate governance aspects and legal secretariat of the group by ensuring in particular the drafting of the documentation relating to the various meetings and day-to-day activities, the administrative organization of the various boards / committees, internal to the group, the follow-up of the various company documents and participations from a business law point of view. He is also responsible for regulatory monitoring on certain aspects and various legal research and provides assistance in exchanges with administrative authorities and the monitoring of regulatory obligations.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2021, Michel was a legal officer at the Secrétariat Général of Société Générale Senegal in Dakar, where he was responsible for providing legal support to the bank activities and issues relating to taxation, insurance and corporate governance, regulatory monitoring, contractual drafting but also rules, procedures, instructions, as well as the management of criminal, social and defence litigation.
Michel holds an inter-university degree as an OHADA Jurist from the universities of Paris Sorbonne Nord (Paris 13) and Paris Panthéon-Assas (Paris 2), an MBA in Banking and Finance from the Centre Africain d’Etudes Supérieures en Gestion (CESAG) in Dakar, a master’s degree in business and Corporate Law from the university of Yaoundé 2 (Cameroon) and a double bachelor’s degree (academic and professional) from the university of Yaoundé 2 as “legal counsel” and in business and law’s practice.
Michel SOUA is a Cameroonian citizen and is fluent in English and French.

Laurent is Senior Accounting & Finance officer based at the AIFM in Luxembourg.
Prior to joining Amethis, Laurent has worked for 9 years in accounting teams.
He previously worked for 2 years in the accounting team of Talentia Software where he participated to the improvement of the accounting procedures as well as the supervision of the accounts.
Prior to TalentiaSoftware, he built significant experience for 7 years as an Account Manager in accounting firms in Marseille, bringing to Amethis his experience in accounting and client management.
Laurent holds a Diplôme Supérieur de Comptabilité et de Gestion (DSCG).
Laurent is French and speaks fluent French and English.

Chafik Khagly is Senior Finance Controller, based at the AIFM in Luxembourg. He will be responsible for the Amethis corporate scope, the budgeting & reporting process and fund administration.
Prior to joining Amethis, Chafik worked for 3 years at Grant Thornton Audit & Assurance in Luxembourg as a Private Equity & Real Estate financial auditor. In particular, he worked on management companies /AIFM / Investment Funds such as LaSalle Investment Management, Royal Partners and Selina Hospiality Funds. Chafik began his career as a financial auditor with Baker Tilly in Casablanca.
Chafik holds a Master 2 from the Ecole Nationale de Commerce et de Gestion in Casablanca and a certificate from the Ordre des Experts-Comptables at the University of Luxembourg. Chafik is of Moroccan nationality and is fluent in French, English and Arabic.

Evans Miriti is a Senior Associate at Amethis. He is based in Nairobi.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2024, he worked as a private equity Associate at Adenia Partners and as a private equity Analyst at Centum Capital Partners.
Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the Kenyatta University, a CPA certification and is a CFA candidate.
He is a Kenyan citizen and speaks fluent English and Swahili.

Omar Naciri is Senior Associate at Amethis. He is based in Casablanca.
Omar’s responsibilities at Amethis include portfolio monitoring as well as deal execution.

Maxime is an ESG Associate in charge of ESG issues and is based in Paris. His activities include coordinating ESG analyses and monitoring the implementation of environmental and social action plans within holdings.
Maxime has 7 years’ experience in environmental and social management and impact assessments for industrial projects. Before joining Amethis in 2023, he spent over 4 years with ERM’s Capital Project Delivery team, having started his career in the mining sector.
Maxime holds an Engineering degree from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie de Nancy (2015) and an Environmental and Social Expert degree from AgroParisTech (2017). Maxime is French and speaks French and English.
